Sword Art Online – Lost Song Review

Sword Art Online – Lost Song is a RPG game release on Playtation 4, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita and based on Sword Art Online anime. As a fan of SAO I am really excited when this game is released. Sword Art Online – Lost Song takes place after the events of SAO game, the main character Kirito beat the original Sword Art Online and freed from the game. Now in Lost Song Kirito and friends exploring the world of MMO – Alfheim Online.

Lost Song has its own plot, different from the anime but there are still stories adapted from it. Of course the story has lost its intensity and tension because there are no threat “If you die in the game then you will die for real”.

The main quest in this game involving Shamrock, a guild lead by the popular idol Seven who want to held an experiment in ALO, but Kirito and friends join ALO for fun and enjoy the game, there are no reason to get involved with it.That’s why even though I’m a fans of SAO, I must admit the story development is pretty dull.

With a relaxing, bright, free from pressure story, I think the game can be enjoyed by anyone, but I highly recommend to at least watch the anime first because there are no proper introduction in this game.

The gameplay however is great. Lost Song offered a new perspective, the characters can flying freely making the exploring quicker and the battles interesting. The combat system itself is fast-paced and action based, really to my liking. The team consisted of three characters and since there are so many playable characters with different skill, weapon and magic that easily customized, the combinations possibility are numerous.

Other interesting features in this game is multiplayer. There are co-op and versus mode in multiplayer. In co-op mode you can explore the world, finish a quest and defeat the enemy together with your friends.

Sword Art Online – Lost Song graphic is not that impressive but it has a great animations especially in combat, but unfortunately I don’t like the dungeon, it’s dull and not challenging. The music however is so beautiful and catchy.

Overall, I think Sword Art Online – Lost Song is worth to play. The game is obviously aimed at SAO fans, for other people I recommend playing Sword Art Online – Hollow Fragment first or at least watch the anime. For people who like real time, action based, and fast-paced combat system and relaxing, no pressure plot,  I think this game will be to your liking.
